Our Eternal Home

We will find our eternal home in the Lord when we come to terms with: God’s strength and our weakness, God’s justice and our sinfulness, and God’s mercy and our response. Psalm 90:1-17

Jesus delivers the fullness of Psalm 90 to us as good news! God is the Creator and righteous Judge from everlasting to everlasting. All people are slaves of sin and deserving of His righteous wrath towards evil which runs through our hearts. The Judge will deal with sin finally and fully. Death has entered the system because of the curse of sin. Our lives are fleeting. We need to consider these things and number our days to gain a heart of wisdom.

And yet, our God is full of compassion and pity. What is God’s answer to this quandary of His wrath and His compassion? How can a holy God dwell with a sinful people? “Hesed” is the answer. The steadfast love of the LORD, the covenant-keeping God satisfies our souls. God’s glory is displayed in His justice and His mercy, which kiss at the cross. Jesus has delivered us from the house of slavery to the promised land, our eternal home in Him! As we see His saving work and glorious power in the death and resurrection of Jesus, our hearts are transformed, and our work is established as we labor for His glory.
